AZEEM M. QURESHI
Chief Executive Officer
Azeem M. Qureshi founded Grasshopper Energy in 2007. As President & CEO, he’s transformed Grasshopper into one of North America’s leading solar energy companies. Since inception, he has spearheaded over $1 billion in funding to further drive the expansion of it’s asset base.
With his on-going commitment to accelerating advancements in sustainability; this forward-thinking entrepreneur has taken the company beyond Canadian borders to the U.S., Japan, Australia and Western Europe. When he’s not leading his team, Azeem is a sought-after expert in the renewable energy sector, primarily as a senior advisor on policy and regulatory matters. He is also on the board of United Nations intergovernmental organization Be Energy IGO and Racer Machinery International. Azeem graduated from the University of Guelph with his Honours B.Sc. in Systems and Computer Engineering, with a specialty in Mechatronics. Before Grasshopper Solar, he managed a consulting business that helped Fortune 500 companies streamline operations. Today, he continues to thrive on creative thinking, innovative ideas and the ability to change lives by providing access to sustainable energy.
Chief Strategy Officer
Leo Mednik is Grasshopper Solar’s management team advisor. He plays an integral part in spearheading the company’s efforts to raise capital and manage the large-scale business.
Leo earned his B.Sc. in Finance and International Business from NYU’s Stern School of Business and then went on to work in the financial sector for companies like Valuation Research and BNP Paribas SA. Before joining Grasshopper Solar, Leo was the co-founder and CFO of Eclipsall Energy, where he successfully negotiated contracts with multi-nationals like Panasonic, JA and Jinko Solar.
General Counsel & Corporate Development
Chris Jodhan is General Counsel and head of Corporate Development for Grasshopper Solar overseeing all aspects of legal, human resources, strategy and enterprise risk management for the corporation.
Chris boasts an impressive legal track record working for a tier one bay street legal firm and a rich history of in-house counsel positions at various organizations across Canada. Early in his career he appeared before all levels of administrative tribunals and courts and later shifted practice to corporate law, commercial litigation and M&A. Today, he is a key member of the Grasshopper Solar executive team working closely with the CEO on major acquisitions, credit facility negotiations and EPC development.
SVP, Global Government Relations
H.E. Tudor Ulianovschi has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and has a distinguished career in diplomatic service of over 15 years. He was posted in the United States, Middle East, Europe, including Ambassador to the United Nations and to the World Trade Organization. Minister Tudor Ulianovschi holds a LLM from the Free International University of Moldova and is a PhD candidate. He is also author of multiple publications.

Chief Development Officer
Jonathan Persaud’s has always been motivated by his desire to help businesses succeed and people achieve their goals. At Grasshopper Solar, he’s able to do both.
A veteran of start-ups and established companies alike, Jonathan joins the team with more than 20 years of management experience at the senior or executive level. Seven years ago, he was drawn to working in the solar energy field because of its fast pace, ever-changing technology and ability to make the world a better place. Today, he’s contributed to aggregate development of over 260MW. Jonathan has studied at both Ryerson University and York University, where he earned certifications in Electrical Engineering Technology and Business Administration.
VP, Corporate Finance
Himanshu Sarin is responsible for all corporate finance functions at Grasshopper. He has previously held positions with a solar power producer and an investment bank with total transaction volume of C$8Bn+. He is a CFA charter holder and an MBA in finance.
VP, Operations – C&I
Osman Sediqi first learned about renewable energy’s positive impact while studying International Marketing Management and Finance at the University of Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen in Germany.
He went on to be a partner at a management-consulting firm, and operate an energy consulting company that helped large-scale operations implement alternative energy solutions and reduce their dependency on fossil fuels. At Grasshopper Solar, Osman is responsible for all aspects of large-scale project deployment, including engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. He has been involved in a total of 87MW in commercial projects, and has led over 19,000 kW (or 55+ projects) to date. The proud father-of-two remains as excited as ever about his work with Grasshopper Solar because “every kW helps create a brighter future.”
As the leader of Grasshopper Solar’s accounting team, Ryan is key to developing its functions as the group continues to grow. He brings nearly twenty years of progressive experience in finance, operations and strategic management to the company.
Some of his notable accomplishments include mergers, restructuring and ERP implementations. Before joining the team, Ryan held senior financial positions in the distribution, hospitality and assurance industries. Ultimately, this avid cyclist was drawn to the renewable energy sector’s rapid growth; and felt right at home in Grasshopper Solar’s start-up culture. Ryan received his Bachelor of Business Administration specializing in Accounting from Bishops University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (Ontario), CPA, CGA.
