Grasshopper Energy Hosted Its Annual Virtual All Staff Meeting to Discuss Our Vision and Road Map to Net Zero in 2050

Mississauga, Jun. 11, 2021 – As we reflect on 2020 with an eye on the future of our company and our province, Grasshopper Energy held an all staff town hall meeting today.

As we presented our vision and how Grasshopper will be a leader in Canada to get us to net zero in 2050, we were joined by government leadership who shared the Ontario recovery plan and how the energy sector will bounce back post pandemic.

We were honored to have the Honourable Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, Monte McNaughton, the Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction, Prabmeet Sarkaria, and the Mayor of Mississuga Bonnie Crombie join us today. 

We discussed the future of our sector as Ontario begins its first phase of reopening and progresses down the long path to recovery. We are proud to be a Canadian company based in Ontario and cannot wait to work with the Honourable Premier Ford and his team to do our part in supporting our economy in the years to come.

“Our municipal and provincial leadership, led by Premier Doug Ford, is important in our growth as we look forward to growing in the province and creating a tremendous amount of employment opportunities,” said founder and CEO Azeem Qureshi. “As we now see a clearer path and as we now see renewed energy that is coming as a result of economies opening up we can take a fresh look at 2020 and understand better where we are going.”

Grasshopper looks forward to working with the Ontario government to build our labour market and create more jobs as we produce clean energy. Minister McNaughton outlined some of the latest legislations and programs being created by his Ministry to spur recovery and strengthen Ontario’s workforce and enrich companies with the needed talent for growth and innovation.  

“I’ve already announced a number of exciting training projects supported by the Skills Development Fund .. So happy to work with Grasshopper on this exciting, innovative approach to training and I look forward to working with you,” said Minister McNaughton. 

Grasshopper is proud of its growth in 2020 in Canada and internationally and we are excited about the opportunities we are bringing to the province. Minister Sarkaria outlined his vision of Ontario’s recovery and his Ministry’s work to make Ontario more competitive and empower its businesses.

And then when they’re successful in Ontario, they’ll go all across the world,” expressed Minister Sarkaria.
